One thing that holds true for most of the web projects I build is that they proceed in fits and starts. The Collector Directory is no different.
Because I always have a day job, my side projects ebb and flow according to the time I have to devote to them. For the first few months of V&R and CD, I was able to dedicate a reliable (small) amount of time each week, and so it moved forward slowly but surely. For the past month, as you may have noticed, things have slowed down. This is because I’m in a busy season of “real” work right now, running at least through the end of the year.
Not only that, but my developer has had some conflicts as well, so I’m working on securing that back-end role at the same time.
This is not to say that progress hasn’t been made in the past 30 days – in fact, we’ve linked account creation to a third-party CRM and programmed a display output to the site based on that data. Meaning, collectors can now add their basic information to the directory, and those additions will show in a sortable table and searchable topic index on the site (with private info hidden). This is just a proof of concept, so I’m not ready to show it yet, but I want you to know that things are still (very) slowly moving forward at the moment.
I’ll get back to a regular development and publishing schedule as time allows, and in the meantime I’ll keep pushing forward where and when I can. I probably won’t update the public site again until January, so until then, I hope you enjoy your holidays!
